Bored? Or are your younger family members playing the ‘we’re bored’, ‘this is boring’ card a lot recently (I suspect especially for my fellow Victorians right now). Well this week I thought I’d share a life hack from a good friend of mine. It’s been a game changer for my family – yes even with teenagers. If you live alone then your family might be you, or your partner. That works too.
It’s a really simple idea. Create a ‘boredom bowl’. As a family, sit down and brainstorm a heap of ideas that would be fun to do at home. This could be baking, board games, learning a dance routine or if you’re feeling particularly adventurous, one of my team members created a roller skate track around her garden. Put all your ideas on paper, fold it up and pop into the bowl. Whenever someone says they are ‘bored’ or ‘fed up’ that family member has to pick an idea from the bowl and everyone should try participate.
It gets your creative juices flowing, includes everyone, and I reckon you’ll create some pretty cool memories in the process. Would love to hear some of your ideas that we can inspire others with!
